Snap! Another update!

Yes, I’m knitting. And spinning. In fact, I’ve just spun nearly 200 g of 3-ply heavy fingering/light DK weight of Icelandic roving purchased from Peter, Paul and Larry. It seems that I’ve been doing nothing but knitting mittens this month (patterns coming soon, or at least one can hope), and this yarn is destined for the next pair. That design is meant to form one of the so-called Dire Portents Trio, inspired by the year 793 as recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle:

“Dire portents appeared over Northumbria…immense whirlwinds and flashes of lightning and fiery dragons were seen flying through the air. A great famine followed and, a little after that, the ravages of heathen men miserably destroyed God’s church at Lindisfarne.”

(Yes, I was trained as a medievalist. Contrary to popular belief, I did not study 14th century heraldry because that is where the money is. Financially speaking, it’s pretty equivalent to being a no-name knitting designer.)
