Kristiania, city of dreams

To go with this vision of Victorian Oslo, you should also check out the clothes of Eva Lie. Absolutely one of my favourite designers since 2003, when I first saw her Jubileumsdrakt in a Norwegian book that I found deep in the UCLA stacks — but I didn’t know her name until yesterday when a detour to the office took me past her studio. (On a slightly related note, university libraries are often amazing depositories of out-of-print knitting books. The University of Hawaii at Manoa and UCLA are home to treasures in Finnish, Norwegian, and English among others.)
